| 1 Min Read
Social work is a dynamic field that evolves in response to the changing needs of human populations – today, an MSW can open doors to many types of social work careers, from child welfare and school social work to healthcare, public policy, community organizing, and more. As the field expands to serve more individuals and communities, the job outlook for social workers remains strong, with a faster-than-average projected growth rate of 7% through 2033.1
Child, family, and school social work continues to account for the highest overall concentration of individuals in this industry, but the highest projected job growth rates for social work careers are in healthcare (10%), mental health (12%), and substance use counseling (12%).1 Further, individuals pursuing less traditional types of social work careers may be surprised to discover opportunities such as:
- Community service manager
- Court liaison
- Emergency management specialist
- Human resources manager
- Lobbyist
