Whether you’re pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW), Master of Social Work (MSW), or Doctor of Social Work (DSW), the online social work programs offered at UK align to core competencies to ensure graduates are prepared for their careers. Through courses and extensive practicum opportunities, students explore current social issues faced by underserved communities, including systemic barriers to equitable well-being. Both our BASW and MSW programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). There is no formal accreditation available through CSWE for DSW programs.

Our Legacy

As the country emerged from the Great Depression in the 1930s, the University of Kentucky created the Department of Social Work to help prepare professionals to meet the needs of new social welfare programs throughout the country.
